Squatty Potty...

Squatty potty is a term used when one must dispose of bodily wastes in a location void of the common plumbing fixture commonly referred to as the toilet. Squatty potties are common in many areas overseas, including Russia. Often in restrooms that display extremely poor sanitation, an individual may also utilize this method of relieving oneself. The charter flight we took to Antalya was so old and dirty. ME refused to pee in the potty and we resorted to placing her over the sink. This was obviously not an option for me. After 5 ½ years living overseas, I have become rather proficient in the area of squatty potties. However, I have never had the experience of being confined to an airplane bathroom with a barefoot 2 year old standing in the middle of the already small space on a carefully placed paper towel on the extremely dirty floor while experiencing airplane turbulence! I was praying that ME and I did not fall out the bathroom door!!!

ME loves to be barefoot and removed her shoes after boarding the plane. Nonetheless, when she says, “PEE!”…usually much louder than necessary…it becomes a race against the clock to get her to an acceptable location before time runs out. This is why she was barefoot in the bathroom!
