Sacrifices...
I have always thought that I would do anything for my family. If faced with a crisis~I would die for anyone of them, give my organs...whatever they needed. However, I recently recognized how truly selfish I am! Keith's mom sent me a box of milk chocolate cover mint oreos!!! What a huge treat. I hid the box and daily ate one, two...OK even three occasionally with my new favorite milk (milk in Russia is sterilized, not pasteurized and is definitely an acquired taste. It is usually a little over $1 for a liter. I found totally yummy, pasteurized milk that was $6 for one liter!!!). Usually I would enjoy my oreo, savoring every little morsel, while of course hiding somewhere when the kids were napping or other wise preoccupied. One day, Gideon asked what I was eating and I nonchalantly said, "Oh, just a cookie." He of course wanted join me...I, however, had forgotten to put away the evidence and when he entered the kitchen spotted the oreo package and said, "Wow! Oreos!!!" I had no idea he even knew what an oreo was since I had never shared any with him before. I grabbed the package and said, "Sorry honey, those are all gone. But, you can have a delicious Russian cookie!" OK, so I am willing to sacrifice my life...just not my oreos!!!
