Cinnamon Rolls...

I am fast approach 40 and last night had to have a Mommy pow-wow to discuss how to cook chicken nuggets correctly!!! Until recently, Keith had been the Head Chef of our family and I served as the clean-up crew. With all the changes in our life this last year, one of the biggest ones for me was the changes in my role in my sweet family. Even though Keith's job is very flexible, he works most days from 9-6 and I just work 2 mornings a week, while ME is at Mother's Day Out. Sooo, I was promoted to Head Chef! I have taken on the responsibility of planning and preparing the majority of the meals for the fam.

It has been a work in progress!!! I have gone from last minute searching and praying that I could throw something together that would resemble an edible meal to actually planning, gathering and preparing meals. Today for lunch, ME and I had microwaved hot dogs, no bun, but covered in ketchup and ate chips in the car on the way to get Gid from school!

Last week, I cooked 4 nights! I called my sweet mentor on Monday evening to brag that I had a hot, fabulous Chinese meal waiting for Keith's arrival. She said, "Wow! You made Chinese from scratch!" I replied, "Well, not exactly...remember this is a work in progress!!!" ;-)

This weekend, I wanted to surprise my fabulous In-Laws with Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls. I began the labor of love on Saturday and woke-up early Sunday morning...5AM...to complete the final steps, so they could enjoy hot, fresh cinnamon rolls right out of the oven! As I was rolling out the last batch of rolls, I ran completely out of cinnamon!!! Since Wal-Mart is literally right across the street from our house, perfection being the goal of the morning and I seriously did not think cinnamon was optional in a cinnamon roll...I pulled on Keith's boots, the only shoes that were by the door, and headed out. I walked confidently into Wal-Mart at 5:45 wearing my flannel PJs, a T and oversized hiking boots, purchased my $0.50 bottle of cinnamon and was home exactly 9 minutes later!!! Let's just say...any humiliation I may have (or should have) experienced was totally worth it!!! Pioneer Woman...you rock!!!

I WILL SAY THE ROLLS WERE DELICIOUS.
THE WAL MART GET-UP WAS QUESTIONABLE.

I L.O.V.E. Pioneer Woman! Did you know she was from Oklahoma? Woo-Hoo for Okie girls! =)

And....when making cinnamon rolls, one must do whatever it takes to get cinnamon. I applaud your acceptance of this fact. ha!
